Personnel Supervisor-Processing
Primary Function:
*Under the supervision of the Field Employee Relations Manager, assist in:
*Developing, implementing and coordinating policies and programs covering; recruiting, employment, employee relations, indoctrination, training, placement, benefit administration, wage and salary administration, and community relations.
*Providing counseling and advice to management personnel regarding personnel policies, regulations and rules, and making recommendations for various personnel actions such as
promotion, discipline and termination.
*Planning, organizing and coordinating the safety programs for the complex to ensure that an effective accident prevention program is maintained and that appropriate measures are taken to comply with all corporate, OSHA, DOT, worker’s compensation, and safety-related policies and directives.
*Remains current in knowledge of federal and state regulations regarding all aspects of personnel management such as EEO,OFCCP, wage and hour, EPA, hazard communication,
labor/employee relations, benefits, training, problem employees, grievance and complaints, absenteeism and record–keeping.
Major Responsibilities:
*Direct employment activities of the assigned shift to assure properly qualified employees are recruited and hired for available positions.
*Contact various sources of labor supply to recruit manpower; interview job applicants and check qualifications against job requirements; refer applicants to plant supervisory personnel for
interview and approval; investigate references where applicable and handle details of employee induction and orientation.
*Coordinate personnel policies and procedures to meet division and corporate guidelines and standards; assist department heads and supervisors in interpreting personnel policies and procedures and make recommendations for indicated personnel action.
*Conduct absence interviews, coordinate and conduct disciplinary interviews and termination proceedings involving employees and supervisory personnel; counsel employees regarding employment, financial, personal and job related matters.
*Assure that company employment, safety, employee relations, personnel and EEO policies and practices comply with the provision of federal and state laws including the maintenance of required or necessary files and logs.
*Set up and maintain general records and files as required for effective personnel operations.
*Keep informed and current regarding changes in employee benefits and personnel policies; coordinate the administration of the group insurance program, hearing conservation program safety and security program; assist in communicating changes in the above programs to employees.
*Assist in drafting proposed rules or guidelines and revisions of existing rules, policies or guidelines as required; assist in development and administration of training programs to assure maximum effectiveness.
*Provide leadership and encouragement in a mood of safety consciousness as well as efficient productivity.
*Assist other personnel staff members in daily department operations.
*Maintain good public relations.
*Performs other duties as required.
IV. Key Working Relationships:
*Reports to Field Employee Relations Manager who provides general supervision and policy guidance concerning the nature and scope of work as well as specific projects.
*Maintain communication and good working relationships with plant management and supervisory personnel in regards to employee relation matters and provide services and information needed to enable them to perform their jobs effectively.
*Maintain good working relationships and communication between line operators and management employee as well as between lines and departments.
*Identifies with values, philosophy, and mission of Sanderson Farms, Inc.
*Ability to conceptualize, communicate and manage major programs in industrial relations and benefit administration.
*Skilled in interpersonal relations, consulting, communicating and group presentations.
Position Requirements:
Academic: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Personnel Management, Safety Management or related field or equivalent experience.
Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience in industrial personnel area or equivalent experience.
Physical: Able to work in various temperatures. Able to bend, stoop, reach, grasp, twist and kneel. Able to lift 10lbs or more, utilizing proper lifting techniques. Able to sit for long periods of time, including use of a keyboard. Able to meet the criteria of the DOT Motor Vehicle Records.
