WORKFORCE SOLUTIONS OF WEST CENTRAL TEXAS JOB DESCRIPTION

OCCUPATIONAL CATEGORY: Internship (Temporary, Part-time through April 2021)
JOB TITLE: Career and Education Communications Intern
OBJECTIVE: To support the growth and ongoing operation of the Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas Board and the Career and Education Outreach program, through social media, digital communication, marketing and design, and logistical assistance for events and special projects.
SALARY: $13/hour; 15-20 hours/week
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: Youth Career and Education Manager
Other: Will work closely with Youth Career and Education Manager, Career and Education Outreach Specialists, Marketing and Communications Specialist, and other board staff
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Career and Education Communications Intern will assist with the development, maintenance, and monitoring of multiple Workforce social media profiles. The Intern will help create and disseminate marketing items for printed and electronic communication. Logistical support for special events and projects will also be required. Other duties may be assigned by Youth Career & Education Manager, Marketing and Communications Specialist, Executive Director or his/her designee(s).
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
  • Create images and post content on social media profiles.
  • Develop written and visual media content for website outreach, social media posts, and printed and electronic media to increase customer engagement.
  • Provide logistical support for projects and events, including: event planning, event set-up/tear-down, participant/vendor coordination, and assistance in development of marketing materials, promotion, printed and electronic communication.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Understanding of successful social media strategies
  • Experience developing written and visual content for social media
  • Ability to create and edit videos
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivation and ease at working independently when necessary
  • Collaborative attitude and willingness to work in a team environment
  • Strong computer skills, specifically with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to gather, organize and communicate relevant information within short periods of time to a variety of audiences.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
  • Experience in social media, marketing, graphic design, event planning, communications and/or administrative support is preferred.
  • Experience with Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or other design products is desired.
  • Prefer individual with coursework in areas such as graphic design, digital media, communications, marketing, or creative writing.
  • High school diploma required.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid Texas motor vehicle operators license or available alternate means of transportation.
